The updated figure reflects a significant rise from an earlier count provided by Seyed Ghani Nazari, another ministry official, who had reported 68 athlete casualties earlier this month.
According to government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani, a total of 1,062 people were martyred during the war.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked act of aggression against Iran, assassinating high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary civilians.

On June 24, Iran’s retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the United States brought an end to the illegal assault.
