TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian biopic ‘Muhammad (PBUH), the Messenger of God’, the latest work by acclaimed director Majid Majidi, will be screened at movie theaters in Russia and Iraq in the near future, one of the film’s producers announced.
Following the successful premiere of the movie in Turkey, it will be screened in Russian and Iraqi movie theaters in the not too distant future, said Mohammad Reza Saberi, the CEO of Noor Taban company, which produced Majidi’s acclaimed film.
He added that the film has so far been received warmly in Turkey, attracting more than 330,000 moviegoers.
Saberi further said that the movie will premiere in Russia’s Dagestan on November 17 with Persian and Russian subtitles. Magomedsalam Magomedov, the head of the republic of Dagestan, and a number of the movie’s crew will be present at the event.
He went on to add that the screening of the movie with Persian and Arabic subtitles will start in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala as well as Erbil in Iraq on November 10.
Muhammad, the Messenger of God, which is the first part of Iran’s big-budget trilogy on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), premiered in cinemas across Iran on August 26, 2015 and attracted a large number of audiences.
A number of internationally-acclaimed professionals, including Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker Scott E. Anderson, three-time Oscar-winning Italian director of photography Vittorio Storaro and renowned Croat production designer Milijen Kreka Kljakovic collaborated in making the film.
Academy Award-winning Indian music composer Allah-Rakha Rahman has written music for the movie.
According to the MWFF’s website, the film does not depict Muhammad [PBUH] himself but his world, the pagan age with all its tyranny and oppression as seen through the eyes of young Muhammad [PBUH] from birth to the age of 13.
Majid Majidi is an internationally and critically acclaimed Iranian film director, film producer, and screen writer whose films have touched on many themes and genres and has won many international awards.
