Iranian martyred in Iraq by Takfiri terrorists

An Iranian national was martyred while fighting against the Takfiri terrorists in Iraq.

(Late) Shoja’at Alamdari Mourjani died while defending Shia Muslim holy sites in the city of Samarra, north of Baghdad. The martyr was buried in the city of Shiraz on Friday.

Samarra is a major flashpoint in the fighting and is home to the shrines of Shia Imams, Hassan Askari (PBUH) and Imam Ali An-Naqi (PBUH).

The holy shrine was bombed by Al-Qaeda in February 2006, sparking a bloody violence that killed tens of thousands of pilgrims.

The report came as the Iraqi army in fighting with the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which took control of Mosul, in a lightning advance on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. Major parts of Tikrit have been retaken by government force.

The government and popular forces are chasing the terrorists after mobilization of popular forces took effect on the heels of a call by religious leader of Iraq.
