Remains of 84 martyrs transferred to Iran

navideshahed- Remains of 84 martyrs of the Iraqi-imposed war of 1980-88 were transferred to Iran from Iraq on Monday.
Brigadier General Seyyed Mohammad Baqerzadeh, the head of the committee in charge of searching for those missing in action, said the remains of the martyrs were found during the past month in Iraq, ˈIran Dailyˈ said in its Upside/Downside column on Tuesday.

Representatives of Iran-Iraqi cooperated to locate and exhume the human remains. The operation was carried out within the framework of the tripartite process established in October 2008 by Iran, Iraq and the ICRC to clarify the state of those still unaccounted for.

In its capacity as a neutral intermediary, the International Committee of the Red Cross provides support for the efforts of the Iranian and Iraqi authorities to account for those who went missing during the war and to ease the anguish of their families.
