The Commander who was Injured All Over

Martyr Ahmad Reza Shah Nazar Eraqi was born on March 22, 1961. From the time that he started talking, he was a mentioner and lover of Ahl Beit (AS). He was grown up in Nazi Abad neighborhood located in Tehran city. During that time the Nazi Abad area was full of religious meetings and Ahmad would always attend these meetings as well. The personality of Ahmad was formed in these meetings and having a father whose job was teaching helped Ahmad in this work as well.

Since the time that Ahmad was a teenager, he got familiar with Imam Khomeini’s school and when he was 17 years old, the revolution of Imam Khomeini reached a good result. Since that time he struggled so much to preserve the Islamic Revolution…

Ahmad was one of the persons who were able to meet Imam Khomeini in person. By establishment of Seyed Al-Shohada brigade, Ahmad became a war veteran of the brigade Mohammad Rasul Allah which had been established in 1982. He became an authority for one of the Investigation and Detection Teams of Operation Intelligence in the war zone of Valfajr Moghadamati and Valfajr 1. He gathered much useful information regarding the battlefields and he led the battalions and he defeated the enemy during the military operation ‘Valfajr Moghadamati’ and ‘Valfajr 1’. In the summer of 1983, he was dispatched to the northwestern battlefields in order to detect the enemy situation in the war zone; when he was returning from this commission, they face with a minefield which had been installed by the enemy in Bamu mountainous area, though their detection work had lasted for 6 days. Ahmad’s right foot was cut off as a result of a landmine explosion.

Ahmad would describe: The place where I stepped on the landmine was absolutely under the control of enemy and though my foot had been badly injured, but I ran with my injured foot for hundreds of meters and I reached to a safe trench. The enemy had shone the war zone will illuminating bullets and it was looking for the reason of explosion and since God helped me and the war zone was a mountainous area and it was a place for passing the boars, two boars were passing there and they stepped on the landmine and the second landmine was exploded and the enemy thought that the first explosion has been a work of the boars.

The air was so dark and the comrade that was with me had not noticed that I have stepped on a landmine and I did not say anything about this issue, but finally I fell on the ground due to much pains and then he noticed my critical situation and he asked me to sit in a trench and the he brings some comrades to help me. When he left, I hid my calc and compass and identification camera in order to prevent the enemy having access to them and I removed the fuse of my grenade and was ready if the enemy comes there to attack them.”?

When the reinforcement troops came there, Ahmad had got unconscious due to intensity of bleeding.

After partial recovery, Ahmad prepared himself to take part in the Kheibar military operation with his artificial foot. He took part in the military operation Kheibar along with martyr Rahmatollah Kurd. After the martyrdom of martyr Kurd, he became the commander of the Intelligence Operation Unit and of the brigade Seyed Al-Shohada (AS).

It was a unit that Ahmad himself described it as follows: “The intelligence and operation have significant roles in the war from different dimensions and if we want to describe the intelligence units of operation in the battlefields in a short phrase, the best and most appropriate phrase can be: “The operation intelligence is the same as the eyes of Islam’s Corps”?


Haj Ahmad was a man who had a great humility among his friends and comrades and one of the outstanding characteristics that this martyr would not get disappointed at the time of difficulties and he had a high capacity in accepting the difficulties and tough activities. He had taken part in many of the detection commissions along with the other war veterans although he had an artificial foot. In some cases they had to stay in the enemy territories and to tolerate the hotness of southern battlefields and to get great and complete information regarding the enemy; but Ahmad would never complain about this issue and his physical health condition; he was an active man and he would advance towards the enemy headquarters so quickly. The detection work and going to the long distances that were so close to the enemy was a sweet work for war veterans and this work would be done under the supervision of Haj Ahmad.

Even though Ahmad’s foot was amputated, but still he would not give up movements and sports and he would play soccer and volleyball with this situation. Sometimes he would claim that he can wrestle and he would say: “I know that if I wrestle with you, I will defeat you!”?

This behavior of him had created a good atmosphere among the war veterans and the war veterans would obey his demands so sincerely. Ahmad would never get tired and he would not allow his forces to get tired as well. From the beginning he would this condition to his forces that: “Tiredness has no meaning in the intelligence unit, so you should be ready all the times, even though you might not have slept for several nights.”?

When Ahmad was 24 years old, he got married and after that he took his spouse to Ahvaz city for the purpose of not being away from the battlefields and he lived in the organizational houses along with other commanders. He would perform his prayer on time and he would try to worship God during nights within many hours.
Ahmad with his wisdom and talent led the diving forces to detect the Amol Rasas Island during the military operation ‘Valfajr 8’ along with this comrade martyr Haj Gholam Kiyanpour. The crossing of this divers of the brigade ‘Seyed Al-Shohada’ from the roaring Arvand River and capturing Sarpol area in Omol Rasas Island was a result of Ahmad’s guidance in the field of detecting and choosing the best solutions. During this operation Ahmad’s face and stomach was badly injured. Ahmad was sent to hospital so quickly and he was hospitalized in a hospital. Ahmad was worried about the health condition of other war veterans so much and though his own health condition was critical, he would count moments to be fine and to go back to the battlefields. Due to the concerns that Ahmad had towards the war veterans and since he did not like to be away from the war for a moment, he had not been completely recovered, but he went back to the battlefields once again.

According to the expansion level of the operation and the enemy weaponries and heaquarters and the restricted time to detect, Haj Ahmad came to the field with all of his power and a comrade like martyr Gholam Kiyanpour was considered as strength for him. The difficulty of penetrating in the iron fortress located in Shalamcheh had made all the persons so surprised. During this operation due to the intensity of conflicts and the fears of enemy and the use a great military power and the high capacity of enemy army, the bodies of most of the martyrs had been left in the war zone. But Ahmad knew that by martyrdom of each person, a part of the forces have been lost, due to this issue, he would replace the forces with resistance so immediately. In order to break the enemy resistance during the military operation ‘Karbala 5’, he sent his most beloved comrades to this operation. Since Gholam Kiyanpour was a commander in this operation, the enemy resistance was ruined, but the martyrdom news of Gholam made Ahmad so upset.

He had gone to the war zones in order to detect the areas and war zones for five consecutive years and both of them passed from the most difficult obstacles and they solved the most important detection problems together. The martyrdom of Gholam Reza Kiyanpour was the biggest emotional impact for him. In fact they were the same as one spirit in the body of two persons… the martyrdom of Kiyanpour made Ahmad so serious about fighting and he attempted to treat himself. He went to different doctors. He needed to receive treatment on his jaw, face, internal orthopedic and dental problems.

No healthy place had been left on his body. When he heard the news of the military operation ‘Karbala 8’ in the hospital, he got so happy about it and he went to the battlefields with that injured body. It was the night of Imam of times birthday anniversary that he arrived to the tactic headquarters of the Army 10 of Seyed Al-Shohada located in Shalamcheh. When the commanders and war veterans saw Haj Ahmad in the battlefields, they got refresh once again. It was sunset and a relative comfort had been created in the war atmosphere. Haj Ahmad left the rifle pit has he had washed his face and hands for the purpose of performing his prayer. All the war veterans were worshipping God.

Jafar Mohammadi, the deputy of the Army had stood near one of the halls. He looked at Ahmad and he said: “Haji, I beg you to pray for me too.”? Ahmad was also in his spiritual silence and he responded his request by a smile. Suddenly the Katiosha shooting was started and it made the headquarters full of dusts. Among this dusts, someone shouted that we should shelter in our rifle pits. Haj Ahmad ran towards Jafar and he saw that his body was bleeding so much and once again he shouted that all the persons must shelter in their rifle pits. He held Jafar in his arms and carried him. Quiver had broken Ahmad’s hand and it had fallen on his face. All of his face had been covered with quivers and we could hardly hear his voice. At first the war veterans thought that he is requesting help, but the shaking voice of Ahmad was reciting the religious sentences before martyrdom. The war veterans of the headquarters picked Ahmad. But Ahmad had been martyred.

Eventually that seeker of martyrdom reached his ambition during the military operation ‘Karbala 8’ in March 1987. He had slept so peacefully, like always, it was a lovable scene. It seemed that the angels had put their wings in his bleeding hands. The war veterans of Nazi Abad neighborhood escorted the body of this martyr the same as a roaring river. They mourned for him and they attempted to step in the path that he had been identified it so well.
