Memories of Flight with 2 Martyrs

Navideshahed: I and Martyr Sayad and martyr Babayee were in a helicopter and we flew behind an aircraft. I told Abbas Babayee: “Flying with a jet is good or with a helicopter?”? he said modestly: “Flying with helicopter seems to be more difficult.”?

According to Navideshahed quoting Fars News Agency, Commander Brigadier General Pilot Mohammad Taa’ati was an official of Air Force during the Iran-Iraq war era and after the Sacred Defense Era he became the deputy of Intelligence for the Air Force. This commander has expressed a memory related to one of his commissions in an interview with the Sacrifice and Martyrdom reporter of Fars News Agency:

All the days of the Sacred Defense Era can be considered as memories for me. When the Iraqi Petrochemical scouts of Basra observed our forces and us, it would bombard our forces with heavy weaponries including chemical bombs. After this attack the demand of launching a military operation was issued; martyr Sayad Shirazi said: “Can’t we hit the Iraqi Petrochemical Industry in a way that they don’t see us for several days?”?

I had invited martyr Abbas Babayee to come to Karbala Headquarters; for the first time when I saw him, he had put no ranking on his shoulder. He introduced himself; in the meeting martyr Sayad said: “You should review this issue that if it is possible to bombard Basra’s Petrochemical Industry by helicopter?”? martyr Babayee said: “If you hit there with helicopter, we will hit its behind with aircraft, I said: “I should talk with a trained and experienced pilot from Kermanshah and to see if it is possible or not.”?

He talked with lieutenant ‘Nazari’ regarding this issue and he said: “If the atmosphere situation to be in a way that the it be able to lock the target, it is possible to hit that target.”?

The pilot moved in front of us to see the war zone; I and Martyr Sayad and martyr Babayee were in a helicopter and we flew behind an aircraft. I told Abbas Babayee: “Flying with a jet is good or with a helicopter?”? he said modestly: “Flying with helicopter seems to be more difficult.”?

On the first day of the operation, the dust caused that the site not to be able to lock the target; at the same night it was rainy and it caused that the dust to be removed and the site of armed helicopter was able to see the target on the second day and to lock it. The pilot of Kobra Helicopter moved until the distance of 1 kilometer and even 500 meters close to the target and it shot towards Basra Petrochemical Industry and it hit the target. It maneuvered for a few seconds and he said: “We have hit the target exactly”?.

We returned to Karbla Headquarters; martyr Abbas Babayee got on his car immediately and he went to the headquarters; he bombarded the same target with an aircraft of F5 when Saddam’s forces were evacuating the injured patients, so martyr Sayad Shirazi was relax about the enemy’s scouts for a week.
