Intifada Conference to Start in Tehran Today

Navideshahed: Hundreds of Iranian and foreign political figures are due to participate in the 5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran from 1 to 2 October, 2011.

"Over 50 parliamentary delegations and political figures, elites and intellectuals and many state officials from Muslim and non-Muslim countries are due to attend the conference," said Hossein Sheikholeslam, secretary of the conference.

He further pointed out that the conference will be chaired by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

The Iranian top legislator is also slated to hold separate meetings with several parliamentary delegations on the sidelines of the conference.

The foreign parliamentary delegations which have announced their readiness to participate in the international event are from Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Indonesia, Kuwait, Paraguay, Zimbabwe, Zanzibar, Comoros, Malawi, Egypt, Oman, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Malaysia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Sudan, Bolivia, Caucasus, Hungary, Colombia, Tanzania, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan.
