Vice Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the former Defense Minister of Armed and Logistics Forces in an interview with Mehr News Agency correspondent regarding the share of army and corps in the Imposed War Era, specially the military operation of Khorramshahr Freedom said: “The Army in its books claims that they fought and the Corps in its books says that they fought and did this operation, but the reality is that a combination of the Army and Corps did this military operation and in some cases the role of one of them was more highlighted.”?

He reiterated: in fact since the Corps were connected with the people and by having the organizational power and the operational power and also due to strength and vitality of its young members that these advantages in addition to the advantage of army such as military facilities and equipment including helicopters and aircrafts of Air Force created the victories during the Iran-Iraq war era.

The chief for the Center of Strategic Studies of Armed Forces however asserted: "But the reality is that the Army and Corps did not have equal roles in the war and especially in the conquest of Khorramshahr.”?

In another part of his interview with Mehr News Agency correspondent about the reasons for the fall of Khorramshahr said: "We were not waiting for war at the time and we were not absolutely ready to deal with the Baathist army, we were also involved in domestic issues, while Saddam from February 1978 to August 1980 a total of 19 months was preparing his army for this war. Saddam’s regime aimed to cut firstly Khorramshahr and then Khuzistan from Iran, but because of God’s will this regime did not succeed to reach its targets and ambitions.

He expressed that he is an Arab and he said: "You can not find an Arab in the combatant groups that are against the Islamic Republic of Iran, such as hypocrites and Fadaiyan Guerillas, because there is no Arab in these terrorist groups.”?

Shamkhani reiterated: But before the revolution in order to fight Against Shah’s regime, some Arabs entered into an equation with Saddam, but when the revolution won, these groups became two divisions, some of them joined the revolution that we wanted the same thing and indeed they wanted to fight with Shah’s regime and we got Arabic Tribes and the other group was the one that were the hired men of the Baathist regime and had nothing to do with the Arab tribes , but also they would be suppressed even by the same tribes.
