Interview of Navideshahed with One of the Directors Attended in “Fajr Theatre Festival”?:
I Know the Characters in my Plays Well
TEHRAN; (SCIB) - “The Play “Bitter Acorns”? was published by Art Deputy of “Foundation for Preservation of Monuments and Dissemination of Values of Sacred Defense”? last spring [spring of 2009]. Shahram Karami told the above mentioned news to Navideshahed reporter and added: “I should confess that it was very difficult to prepare and produce this work. Up to now and in more than ten plays that I have made in past, I had never spent this much time and energy for preparing and producing a play.”?
Karami further added: “As far as considering the method of performance, “Bitter Acorns”? Play is much different from my previous plays. During this play, I made my effort not to include false excitement for the audience. I tried to make this play in a way that the audience can achieve analysis through the dramatic situation. It means that the audience is not involved in the subject very much and he/or she is more influenced by the situation and the atmosphere. Therefore, I tried to create gaps during the play.”?
This theatre director is from Kermanshah City. He has grown up in a large border region.
In continuation, Karami said: “This play is the result of my personal experiences about the war time. I made my effort to show the influence of war on the families that live in the border areas. For me, all characters in this play certainly presented examples in the real life. I have lost many of my close friends and relatives during the war. And I know the characters in my play well.”?
As for the music of this play; Karami said: “The method of performance was a modern method in this play. Therefore, we chose a modern music too. It was however a modern music inspired by the original Kordish [from Kordestan Province in west of Iran] music. I made my effort to show a rustic atmosphere in the framework of modern clothes and modern way of designing the stage. This way, I intended to make the play more attractive. Besides, I aimed at paving better grounds for transferring my ideas.”?
In conclusion, Shahram Karami said: “Due to facilities that were available in “Molavi”? Theatre, I insisted to perform “Bitter Acorns”? in this theatre during “Fajr Theater Festival”?.”?
Shahram Karami also said that “Bitter Acorns”? would be performed for the public during the next year.
