Keeping martyrs alive in the mind and memory of people, especially making the young generation familiar with the culture of martyr and martyrdom by rendering them in the published text books which are about martyr and martyrdom, is a must. The present study aims at investigating the position and the amount that the works on martyr and martyrdom have been included the text books of the ministry of education for the primary school, guidance school and high schools. The researcher has laid the bases of his project on the following questions: In which of the text books designed for the primary school, guidance school and high school students is there the possibility of mentioning the concepts of martyr and martyrdom? In which of these text books, are these concepts rendered? In which books are these concepts considered more and in which ones, they are less paid attention to? What are the suggestions in order for mentioning these concepts at a satisfactory level? The research methodology is descriptive and was based on searching in library. The research community includes all the text books in primary school, secondary school, and high school. The result indicates that:
1.In the following text books the concept of martyr and martyrdom have been used at a satisfactory level:
Secondary School Text books:
Religious Education for the first grade, Persian Language for the second grade students, History of the first and second grade, and Book of the second grade.
High school Text Books:
the 3rd and 4th Persian Language and Grammatical Rules in Writing Persian for the second grade students, Persian Language of the 4th grade students, the 2nd Persian Literature: Poetry and prose texts for the pre – university students, Iran, Islam and World History for the second grade students, History of Iran for the second grade students, The History of Islam and the Islamic Governments for the third grade students, The 4th History of Iran in the Modern Era for the 4th grade students, Islamic Insight 2 for the third grade students, Lessons from Qur’an, Arabic Language 3, 5, and 6 as well as Sociology of the third grade students.
2.In the following books the concepts of martyr and martyrdom have not been used sufficiently:
Text Books of Primary School: Religious Education of the third and fourth grade students, Social Education of the fourth and fifth grade students.
Text Books of Secondary School: Persian Language of the first and third grade students, Social Education of the first, second and third grade students, Art for the first and third grade students, Arabic Language of the second and third grade, and Defense Preparation of the third grade students.
Text Books for the High School Students: Persian Literature 1 and 2 for the first grade students, Persian Language of the first grade students, Persian Literature of the 3 and 4 for the second grade students, Persian Language and the Grammatical Rules of Writing for the second and third grade students, the Literary Texts of the third grade students, the first and the second part of the Persian Language and Literature of the Pre University Students, Persian Language and Literature, Rhyme, Prosody and Literary Criticism, History of Literature (Part 1 and 2) for the second and fourth grade students, History of Iran and the World for the third grade students, Islamic Insight of the first and third grade students, Lessons from Holy Qur’an, 1, 2, 4, and 7 Arabic Language, as well as Sociology of the third and fourth grade students.
