Latifi in an Interview with Shahed: Difference of “The Third Day”? Movie, in its Humanitarian Dimension

TEHRAN ,(SCIB) - High humanitarian values were stated in “The Third Day”? movie. And it has differed this film from other war movies.

The subject however exists in other war movies too; but the objective is much holier here, Mohammad-Hussein Latifi, the director of “The Third Day”? said in an exclusive interview with Shahed Cultural Information Base. He added: “Attention to the humanitarian dimension has been lessened in other sacred defense films. That is because the objective and intention in such films are to conquer a place or to achieve a military goal. Hence, the spectators don’t feel a kind of coexistence or sympathy with the characters of the movie as they should.”? Latifi further added: “It is the right time to make war movies. Looking at the war in other countries, we find out that the movie makers of such countries make movies about war after 4 decades. I think it is the time to make movies patiently and calmly and far from any fanaticism with a realistic look at what has happened in war; because our people are now ready to watch and hear the real events of war.”? Those films which are made based on duty, not feeling, will not make any special feeling for the spectators who have been themselves involved in war in a way. Such films – that they are many - only focus on a small part of 8 year sacred defense. And it is just the surface of the matter, Latifi said. As for the humanitarian content of “The Third Day”? Latifi said: “We see a sister in this film who has stayed in the city because of her brother’s love. We see that she cannot go out of the city. And we see a brother who has a share in saving this sister. Despite the fact that he might be killed, he returns to save her life. This is a humanitarian subject. And every girl can consider herself in the place of Samireh.”? On the other hand, any boy can consider himself in the situation of Reza. This sympathy and coexistence feeling lets me – as the film director- feel free to have better conceptual and sensual communication with the audiences, he said. As for actors and actresses of the movie, Latifi said: “As the director, I feel that the selections for “The Third Day”? movie have been made by conscience. Since people communicated with the characters, we come to the result that characters of the film have been real and touchable. An inner feeling told me that these people are the best selections to play the movie. The actors and actresses also contributed me a lot. Some of them joined our team with very low wages. And I express appreciation to them here.”? At the end of the interview, Latifi complained officials and said: “I did my job and now I stay beside; but screening the film and the way officials looked at the movie were surprising for me; because they did not respect the movie at all.”?
