Mohsen shandiz “Camera, our weapon”?

TEHRAN, (SCIB) - In an exclusive interview with Shahed Cultural Information Base, Mohsen Shandiz , talked about his concerns as a war photographer.

“I have taken many different photographs in my life, but I love two categories of them most because I have recorded people’s merriness in them. These include my photographs of the liberation of Khoramshahr as well those of the victory of Iranian national football team over Australia.”? veteran photographer told our reporter. Veteran war photographers are really hurt by their photographs not being subject to copy right laws, Shandiz complained. “Some newspapers and news agencies, use our photographers without even mentioning the name of the photographer”? “Photojournalists are the most vulnerable group among journalists. We were not after money when we started this profession. Had we been so, we wouldn’t start a profession like photography; that too war photography”? Shandiz added. Iranian war photographers were really passionate about their profession, Shandiz commented. “Iranian war photographers appeared courageously in the front along with their warrior brothers to record scenes of valor and epic. They wanted to preserve these documents for future generations who are definitely eager to know more about those days’ events”? Many of them paintings about war are modeled on war photographs, Mohsen Shandiz believes. “Photographs have different qualities. Most of the war paintings you come across are modeled on war photographs due to the documentary quality that a photograph possesses.”? Shandiz urged the recovery of the missing photographs during the war. “We had shot several photographs of Khoramshahr. But I think many of them are missing. It is crucial that we know what has become of these photographs.”?
