Iranian Deputy FM:

NAM Summit Proved US Sanctions as Futile

Navideshahed: Iran's deputy foreign minister says Tehran’s hosting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit proved the futility of the US unilateral pressures aimed at isolating the Islamic Republic on an international level.

According to IRIB, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Saturday “This summit once again confirmed on an international level that the unilateral pressures imposed by the US with the aim of isolating the Islamic Republic are futile and that this issue was further substantiated by the presence of two-thirds of the United Nations member states in the NAM summit.”?

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs added that efforts by the Islamic Republic’s enemies to promote Iranophobia in the region and the world had failed even before the summit was held.

Amir-Abdollahian noted that Iran is determined to revive the realistic ideals of NAM founders during its presidency and “turn the NAM into an organization that has plans and suggestions for international and regional crises and issues by establishing an active workgroup for every issue”? to resolve global problems through cooperation and high potentials of its member states.

The final communiqué expressed support for Iran’s nuclear energy program, rejected the United States’ unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic, and called for greater efforts to support the Palestinian cause.
