Iran Condemns US Pastor’s Sacrilege of Holy Quran

Navideshahed: IRI Foreign Ministry condemned an insulting measure by a US priest in evident sacrilege of the Holy Qur’an by burning the holy book.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said: "It goes without saying that the unacceptable measures taken by the US priest would result in fueling the anger of Muslims throughout the world, something which makes the US government more responsible vis-à-vis efforts to prevent such radical measures."

"The international community is awaiting serious reaction by the US government against such extremist measures," the statement read.

Controversial Florida Pastor Terry Jones burned copies of the Holy Qur’an and a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Saturday.

The unacceptable burning act of the Holy Qur’an, attended by 20 people and streamed live over the Internet, was carried out in Gainesville, Florida.
