Islam is not the Religion of War

Ayatollah Nasser Makrem Shirazi in a meeting with police commanders said " Even a victorious war takes its toll," while demanding full preparation against the enemies so that no country braves to attack.

He explained Islamic view on war and said, "Islam does not approve fighting but recommends you for full preparation so that the enemies do not heed to attack you."

Grand cleric rejected war as a solution saying, "Even the victorious side in a war pays the toll, hence we have to find a solution that the enemies do not dare to start a war with us."

"That way we can be both victorious without much budgeting,"
the cleric said.

However, he said, "The best weaponry to defend ourselves is the true faith [in God]."

He demanded for plans to strengthen the religious belief of the youth and said, "True faith and trust in God Almighty are the best weapons and the enemies are trying to hijack this weapon by spreading corruption and immoralities among us."

He reiterated boosting the religious beliefs of the people and said, "As far as we are armed with our faith, the enemies are not hopeful to beat us."

Senior cleric called beliefs of the people as the reason for victory and promotion of the Islamic Revolution in Iran as well as the 8-year-war between Iran and Iraq.

He warned against enemies' efforts to pollute the cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the country, saying the only solution to save the society is having wisdom and insight.
