President Ahmadinejad:

Iran Stands beside Regional Nations

Navideshahed: IRI's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the Iranian nation will stand beside regional nations to the end.

“Regional nations should know that the Iranian nation, the beloved Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all pro-justice nations stand beside them,”? said President Ahmadinejad at the closing session of the First International Conference on Islamic Awakening in Tehran on Sunday.

"In this brilliant and divine path, the Iranian nation will help the regional nations, hoping that the developments now taking place in the region will lead to solidarity, unity and authority of all monotheists in the face of arrogant powers," he said.

Elsewhere in his address, the President said that freedom is a divine gift.

"Divine messengers have been assigned to save man from captivity," Ahmadinejad said.

"Any society, afflicted with factional prejudices and racial discrimination will never taste freedom," he added.

He noted that the goal of a prosperous society is to provide man with freedom and help him attain divine perfection.

More than 500 Muslim thinkers from 80 countries attended the Conference, which was inaugurated by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Five special committees were set up during the two-day event to discuss different aspects of the Islamic Awakening, including the history and basic tenets of the revival movement as well as figures that have played a role in the popular uprisings.

The conference also established a permanent secretariat that would be headed by Ali-Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, and based in Tehran.
