TEHRAN, (SCIB) - A conference was held on the position of narrative literature in Aashoura culture while tribute was paid to the selected works in the field of narrative literature. This conference was held in the Grand exhibition of Aashoura Culture in the presence of many writers. According to the reporter of Shahed Cultural Information base, the conference started on Tuesday evening with the recitation of Quran, playing of National Iranian anthem and a performance by the music group Niloofar (made up of students with severe hearing impairments). Sayed Jamal Heydari, member of the board of judges of this conference discussed Aashoura event from different points of view and said “Since the majority of the present audience are writers, I would like to deal with Imam Hussein’s uprising in its different aspects.”? Heydari, a writer himself, reiterated “What would the westerners do if they had an event like Aashoura? I believe they would write hundreds of poems and stories on it, stronger than Harry Potter or they would make better-made films than Lord of the Rings!”? Heydari explained that there are three major elements in each story: protagonist, theme and action. He said “One can find perfect examples of all three of these elements in Aashoura event, in fact everything is in it perfection in that event”? He went on to say “One can find every kind of character in Aashoura and we are faced with a diversity of age and gender at a different level”? He pointed to magnitude of Imam Hussein’s action and said “No body has been able to fully represent the magnitude of Imam Hussein’s action in any form so far”? He reiterated “Aashoura is all a miracle, after centuries we still see the sad memory of this event fresh in the minds of people; this can only be a miracle”?. He stated further “The human values that Aashoura contains are the highest human values since the beginning of creation”? He likened some of the events of Aashoura to a miracle and said “In which war have you seen a commander telling his warriors the night before the operation that they will all be martyred the next day? Usually a commander has to encourage his army, but Hossein is clear on his mission, this is how Aashoura has assumed its significance”?. After Heydari’s speech, the statement of the board of judges was read out. Afterwards, the selected works in the field of narrative Literature were acclaimed in the presence of the deputy of research and cultural relations, the secretary of the conference and members of the board of judges. In the section on review of 27 years of Aashoura literature the selected were: Sayed Mehdi Shojaee for his book “Father, Love, Son", Muslim Naseri for “The lonely commander”?, and Davar Ghafarzadegan for “The forsaken”?. The works “Moon in the water”? by Mohammad Reza Sangari, “The third horseman”? by Mohammad Kazem Mazinani and “eulogy in the rain”? by Mohammad Sadaat Akhavi were also acclaimed. In the short story section, Mahboobeh Mehrabi, Ebrahim Bagheri and Farhad Memari received prizes.
