1,900 killed in Syria during Geneva II talks

Navideshahed- The so-called Geneva II talks on Syrian crisis were wrapped up without being able to stop more bloodshed with nearly 1,900 people killed just within the days the conference was held.

According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights since the negotiations between representatives of Syrian government and opposition opened in Switzerland on January 22, some 1,900 people, including both civilians and foreign-backed militants, were killed in different parts of Syria.
The pro-opposition group’s report says civilian deaths included 431 killed in fighting between militants and the Syrian army, as well as 40 who died from lack of food and medicines in besieged areas.
515 soldiers and volunteer fighters were among the dead, according to the report.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in Berlin on Thursday that the Syrian delegations would leave Geneva on Friday to brief their leaders and return to the negotiating table in February.
The opposition delegation is to stop at the Munich Security Conference on Friday to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and the UN chief, according to the DPA.
There was no progress reported by either side on Thursday, before the last day of the first round of discussions on the three-year crisis in the Arab country.
The official delegation proposed a draft communiqué on combating terrorism, which was rejected by the opposition.
