In an Interview with Fars News Agency:

Palestinian Prisoner Speaks of 19 Years of Captivity in Zionists' Prisons

Navideshahed: Up to now the cases of Palestinian prisoners of war have been stated in the negotiations tables and interviews and protests for the support of Palestine’s issue. We have heard about the pains and suffering of the prisoners of war so much until now, but no one except these prisoners of war themselves can explain these pains and sufferings so well.

Timsir Hamdan, the prisoner of war and journalist from Palestine in an interview with Fars News Agency in Turkey described the memories of 19 years of captivity behind the prison’s fences of the Zionist regime and he believes during this time, he learnt some lessons such as patience, excitement to resistance and freedom of Palestine.

Fars News Agency: Please introduce Timsir Hamdan more for us?

Hamdan: I was one of the persons who were born in Qods city. I got educated there and I took part in the establishment of some battalions of Az Al-Ddin Aghsam. We did many operations in this city including kidnapping the soldiers and officers of Israel. Also we captured an Israeli bus as well. After that from 1993, I was convicted to life imprisonment. Eventually I was freed in October 18, 2011 during the exchange of prisoners of war. Right now I live in Turkey and I have many plans in order to introduce the story of Palestine and maybe one of the most important programs is the issue of resistance Medias and I have attempted to make more communication with the people through that; also I would like to express the crimes of the occupiers through the conferences and protests.

Fars News Agency: How did you think about the Resistance Medias and how can such medias to be handled?

Hamdan: In the past and before we get captured, we would study about Medias. Also when we were in the prisons, we would try to educate the young generation who had been imprisoned in the dark and narrow rooms of the jails. We were a member of the Media Committees and its work was controlling the Medias of the Zionist regime moment by moment. We would do it in order to fight against the enemy’s Media conflicts. In fact this strategy would be done in order to stand against the enemy’s information and creating barriers and obstacles for the Israeli Medias and we expanded it; as we train the attacking methods against the Israeli side to the learners and our purpose and goals is reaching the highest level and the complete description of the situation.

Fars News Agency: Will you have any conference and protests regarding the prisoners of war in Tunisia?

Hamdan: Yes, we will hold a conference for the Palestinian prisoners of war in Tunisia. In this conference many of the prisoners of war will take part and this conference will be held on October 19. Since we are the Palestinian prisoners of war and a part of the Resistance party, we will struggle to hold this conference in order to show the live witnesses of the characters, to present the video images and films; in fact we will prepare ourselves for a big Media plan.

Fars News Agency: Until now we have witnessed the conferences and protests for the support of Palestine’s issue, but none of them have reached an acceptable result; in fact they have been stated only in the level of resolution and statement, will the work of this conference be the same as well?
Hamdan: We have two main goals for the conference: The first is creating a firm communication network with all the organizations and institutes which support the prisoners of war and in addition to that we think it is necessary to present an executive and practical plan to support this plan which is the resistance media; so that we can reveal the crimes of the Zionist regime through this plan and to put the Zionist regime’s Media in barriers.

Fars News Agency: Please talk about the pains and sufferings that you had inside the prisons and also say how did you pass those tough years?

Hamdan: I stayed in the prisoners of the Zionist regime for 19 years. It means I spend half of my lifetime in the prisons; the pains, suffering and tortures and being away from my family and friends all were bothering me. My father was sick and he passed away and although I was away from him only for a few kilometers, but I was not able to see him before his death.

If the prisoners of war would be sick, they would be taken to a hospital which was so similar to a prison, they would not pay attention to the situation and health condition of the prisoners of war so well in the hospital. They would only prescribe tranquilizers and painkillers drugs to us which were useless and in some cases, they would use the prisoners of war for their medical tests and their medicines and it was not important for them that these medicines could lead to their deaths and in addition to that, we had to tolerate the medicine pollution and other problems as well.

Fars News Agency: Before these pains and suffering, you were someone who was excited to Resistance and joining this party and your only ambition was the freedom of the Palestinian land, so please talk about that era and the procedure of joining the Resistance battalion.

Hamdan: We were grown up with pains and suffering; we could see that the Israeli soldiers would attack our fathers and mothers; they would demolish our houses and they would expropriate our lands, but despite of this, the Islamic dimension caused the creation of national dimension and love to our lands in our hearts. Therefore our goal was the freedom of our homeland with any price. The movement of Ikhwan Al-Muslimoon and after that Hamas and particularly Az Al-Ddin Aghsam battalion which was known as Mujahedoon in the past was created and we did many military operations including the killings of the Israeli soldiers and capturing some of them in order to exchange our prisoners of war. We would have this principle and motto that our lands must be freed by the hands of ourselves and that we need to liberate the lands by relying on the Islamic and belief dimensions.

Fars News Agency: In your opinion, what is the solution to end the disunity and double-standard in the differences of the Palestinian scene?

Hamdan: Our main principle in Resistance is that we will never hand over our lands to Israel under any condition and we will never accept the issue of negotiations and these words are not a diplomatic speech or issue, but it is a reality.

Fars News Agency: Is your role as a freed prisoner of war different from what you had in the past, or you have the same role and approach?

Hamdan: We learnt many lessons during the captivity years that how we must resist. We lost all of our things in return of Resistance. We as the prisoners of war who have been experienced in this field say that no one like us can talk about the issue of Palestine so well, because our courage caused that we keep our guns and weapons towards the Israeli soldiers and to open fire at them without having any fears. We were able to launch the biggest and hugest military operations by the simplest and smallest weapons.
