University Professor Speaks of Women's Role in Holy Defense

Azar Agha Dadashi in an interview with Iranian Student’s News Agency (ISNA) from Zanjan city declared: “The women of Islamic Iran despite of the restrictions and problems that they had during the Iran-Iraq war era, they played a significant role in all the important fields of the war.”?

“The brave women of Iran in order to defending their family in addition of preserving the credibility of Islamic Iran, they left a brilliant background of themselves. Therefore for the purpose of reviewing the role of women in the 8 year war of Imposed War, not only from one angle, but also from different angles the post and positions of women should be verfied," she added.

Agha Dadashi said: “The Iranian women did some activities during the war such as providing the foods, clothes of war veterans, nursing near the martyrs families and injured patients of the war, sympathizing with their own men who would be dispatched to the war zones and even in some of the families specially the rural families, they would earn money for the family economy and they would do the agricultural affairs too.”?

She accompanied her husband in the Ahvaz war zone for four years and she outlined: “The war is never likable for women due to their sensitive morale that they have, but in case of necessary, the women will get present in the battlefields and they will fight against the enemy the same as strong men and we observed some great samples like this during the Iran-Iraq war too.”?

This social researcher emphasized: “According to the shortage of medical and medicine facilities specially due to the sanctions of Iran and the newly revolted country of Iran, the role of women was really significant in health cares and nursing activities.”?

Agha Dadashi said: “ The most sorrowful part of the presence and role of women in the field of eight year war of Iran-Iraq that made the Iranian women as a hero was their presence as prisoners in the control of Iraqi Baathist regime and this painful event despite of violation of the international laws that the women should not be the prisoners of war, or in case of captivity some humanitarian activities should be done for them, but they faced the worst tortures and unfair activities. In fact the Iranian women who had been captured were behaved so badly in the Iraqi prisoners and these women cleared the black background of the Iraqi Baathist regime. In fact the women became one of the reasons for eternity and everlasting issue of the Iranian nation during the eight year war of Iran-Iraq.”?

She who has given birth to a babe in the war zones said: “Educating and raising children in the war zones and under the bombardments was followed with fear and frightening. In fact this issue was one of the concerns of the Sacred Defense women.”?

This university professor emphasized: “Maybe the best sentence to explain the role of Iranian women in the Sacred Defense Era is summarized in the holy Koran Verse ‘23’ in Surah Ahzab and it says: “Because these women were committed to their promises with God honestly and without expecting anything and this resistance is for sure due to their beliefs in God.”?
