Ashura Corps Commander:

Khoramshahr is the Symbol of Iranian Nation's Might and Oppression

Navideshahed: "The 34-day Khoramshahr epic, the resistance of the awesome defenders of the city who had come from across the country against the Iraqi Baathist regime armed-to-ears army is the symbol of Iranian nation might and oppression," said the commander of Ashura Corps.

According to a ISNA reporter, East Azarbaijan Province-- Commander Pour Jamshidiyan on the threshold of the May 23, the anniversary of Khorramshahr Liberation gave speech to more than 2500 retirees from the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and he considered the Sacred Defense Era as one of the great eras of Iran’s history and he added: “If we want to transfer the morale and values to the future generations so well, we should always honor the significant events of the Sacred Defense Era including the military operation ‘Beitol Moghadas’ and ‘Khorramshahr Liberation’.

He also considered the lack of expertise and professional forces and shortage of initial facilities of war as a reason for Khorramshahr’s innocence and he added: “While the Iraqi Baathist regime had devoted an armored Army to capture Khorramshahr, the Iranian war veterans were able to defend against them for 34 days.”?

Pour Jamshidiyan declared: “Khorramshahr in 34 days of resistance can be considered as a symbol of innocence epic of Iran in the real meaning of words in a way that the whole world of blasphemy supported the Iraqi Baathist regime and the Iranian nation without any weapons and without required preparedness entered a full-scale war. The innocence of Iranian forces in the 34 days war in Khorramshahr has been mutual. The resistance battle from one side was against the armed to teeth Iraqi Baathist Army and on the other side it faced with the treachery of Bani Sadr.”?

Commander of Ashura Corps pointed out to the required military equipments for the Iranian war veterans and he continued: “The art of some martyrs such as Shafi Zadeh and Hassan Agha Mohammad was taking the weapons of enemy as booty in a way that they would use the enemy artillery against themselves and they founded the first Iranian artillery during the military operation ‘Beitol Moghadas’.”?

Commander Pour Jamshidiyan considered the existence of 170 unknown martyrs in the public cemetery of Abadan city as a reason for reaction of a resistance sacrifice and the innocence of Iranian nation in the real meaning and he notified: “What caused the Imposed War Era to be sacred was that the people had voluntarily attended the war to create epics and sacrifices.”?

He mentioned that May 23 is the day of power for Iran and he added: “The Iranian war veterans were able to remove the domestic traitors and to use the Basiji and Koran thought and to deploy the restricted facilities and sources usefully and to capture Khorramshahr and to revive the Ashurayee thought.”?

Commander Pour Jamshidiyan notified: “The Iranian war veterans did many great military operations against the Iraqi Baashtist regime during the Sacred Defense Era such the General Commander of Armed Forces, Tariq Al-Qods, Fathol Mobin and Beitol Moghadas and they were able to liberate Khorramshahr on May 23.”?

He also considered the liberation of Khorramshahr as a symbol of unity and integration of Islam and a sample of divine victory and he documented to the statements of the Grand Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on this issue that ‘Khorramshahr was Freed By God’ and he said: “The Islamic war veterans did not have special facilities, but only they relied on God and they were able to free Khorramshahr.”?

Commander Pour Jamshidiyan continued: “We must be proud of Khorramshahr, Beitol Moghadas and the devotees and martyrs families who devoted all of their belongings in this path. If we do not value those scenes and epics and do not retell those memories, the history will forget some of these epics and sacrifices.”?

He declared: “We must always keep the memory of those memories alive, so that the today and future generations will know that our country has been the heritage of what sacrifices and epics. All the people of Iran from all classes of the society played roles during the Iran-Iraq war and indeed all the people of Iran should preserve the memory and remembrance of those days.”?

Commander Pour Jamshidiyan declared: “Guarding the revolution is not limited to a determined time, era or uniform and it always belongs to all the people. We must not forget this issue that we belong to Khorramshahr and Fathol Mobin.”?

In another section of his speeches he emphasized on this issue that the relationship of retirees with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps must not be cut off and he said: “The negligence of some should not lead to the cutting off relationship between the war veterans with the today generation of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. We must pay more attentions to the experiences of the retirees because the relationship of Today generation with the old persons leads to promoting the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom.”?

Ghafar Rostami, the authority of Retirees Centers of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps also during this meeting pointed out to this issue that some concepts such as landmine, canebrake, Kurdistan coldness, the military operation ‘Karbala 5’, Shalamcheh, Talaeyeh and so on are not some tangible concepts for today’s generations and he said: “The retiree generation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps itself was a creator of some epics which took place in Majnoon Islands, Shalamcheh…and they can honor the Sacred Defense Era memory and to absorb the attention of today’s generation towards these epics and the Sacred Defense Era.”?
