Title: He Believed Me
The Subject in Brief:
Haj Mohsen Jameh Bozorgi, the Deputy Commander of “Jafar Tayyar” Diving Battalion of Division 32 of “Ansar –al Hossein” was captured by Ba’thi forces of Iraq in the operation region of Karbala 4 on June 25th, 1986. He was captured by the Iraqi forces while he had been severely injured from his legs. And the photo of him was published by the Iraqi reporters in “Al Ghana” Magazine in Baghdad. The photo shows him lying on a stretcher while he was in diving clothes.
He was transferred to one of the hospitals in order to be cured. In the situation in which the Iraqi forces acted carelessly for curing Iranian injured captives, Brother Jameh Bozorgi finds out that one of the rescuers wanted to help him in one way. That rescuer wanted to help Brother Jameh Bozorgi in the way that others could not be informed.
He finds an opportunity when there was no one in his room in that hospital and asks that person why he had paid attention to his medical treatment. And that Iraqi person answers as follows: “One of my companions in war and me were captured by the Iranian forces during one of the operations that were carried out against us. We had been captured by one of the “Basiji” young forces. Since we were terribly afraid, we took out the photos of our wives and children from our pockets and showed to this young “Basiji” Iranian combatant. And we said: “We are married and have wives and children. Please ignore us and let us leave.” The Iranian “Basiji” combatant paused for few moments and then said: “Ok. You can go.” We did not believe it. And we thought he was kidding. So we stood and looked at him. He repeated himself again and said: “Why don’t you go? You are free and you can leave here.”
We started to go slowly while we were very worried. And every moment, we thought that he would shoot us from back we some times looked backwards and saw him still standing there and looking at us. We left the region and became far from that region. And he was still looking at us. After this event, I found out the fact that we were fighting with such great men in this war. And because of the love that this Iranian combatant showed, I intend to help Iranian injured captives in order to compensate small parts of manly behavior of that young “Basiji” combatant.
“Brother Haj Mohsen Jameh Bozorgi” was one of the teachers in high schools of Hamedan City. He was released from captivity in the summer of 1990 and came back to our Islamic home land.
