Concurrent with Anniversary of the 33- Day War of Lebanon;
“Story of Resistance” Film Festival Will Be Held in Al-Kowsar Universal Channel
TEHRAN, (SCIB) - Director of “Film and Serial Department” of Al-Kowsar Universal Channel said: “Film Festival of “Story of Resistance” will be held in this channel concurrent with anniversary of the 33- day war of Lebanon in July.
According to the reporter of Navideshahed; in an interview with reporters, Ebrahim Ali Barzi, Director of “Film and Serial Department” of Al-Kowsar Universal Channel and Secretariat of this festival said: “Film Festival of “Story of Resistance” will be held aiming at encouraging film makers and documentary film makers to make films and documentary films about the 33- day war of Lebanon and resistance of Hezbollah.”
Secretariat of the festival further added: “Our final objective by holding this festival is to appreciate resistance combatants and those who made lots of efforts in the 33- day war and showed bravery against their occupier enemy and created a unique epic. The 33- day war was a unique event in Arab countries. And Arab countries had not experienced such a victory by that time. This is not an unimportant event that a small group of people –with lots of problems- defeat the enemy in a country like Lebanon.”
In continuation, he said: “From the other side, by holding this festival we intend to appreciate those who have carried out activities in this field or they have made films and documentary films about this event. And by making the subject of resistance bigger, we intend to encourage other film makers –who have not had experiences in this field- to make films in this field.”
Ali Barzi mentioned the due date and said: “The due date for participating at the festival is July 5th, 2008. “Story of Resistance” Film Festival will be held in three sections of documentary films (Short and long), narrative films (Short and long) and video clips with the subject of the 33- day war and resistance of Lebanese people, ruins and organizations which provided humanitarian services during this war. Another section of the festival is allocated to unprofessional documentary films which have been made with amateur equipments. And best films will be awarded prizes.”
As for the jury of the festival, Secretariat of “Story of Resistance” Film Festival said: “There will be five judges and one selection committee for every section. The selection committee is consisted of Iranian judges and some judges from Lebanon and Arab countries. Three works in each section will be chosen to be awarded valuable prizes. The closing ceremony and appreciating selected artists will be held on August 2nd to August 9th, 2008. This ceremony is actually held one week before the anniversary of victory of Hezbollah over Zionist Regime in the 33- day war.”
As for encouraging and supporting film makers who want to work in this field, Barzi said: “Encouraging film makers who want to make films about the 33- day war is our prior objective. We however know that working in the field of resistance in international scale has lots of problems. Some of our film makers who traveled to Lebanon were prohibited to travel to European countries. And this action aimed at stopping work in this field.”
In conclusion, Ali Barzi said: “The difference in the level of works about the 33- day war is natural. This difference depends on differences in capabilities of directors, views of directors, facilities and the subject that the film is about. And this difference is observed not only in the programs which are made in Lebanon, but also in other countries and other programs. We make efforts to encourage both directors who present good works and those who are interested to work in this field. We intend to move towards good and strong works.”
